I bring over 30 years’ experience leading innovation in complex systems, across policy, research, venture capital investment, and strategy where real change bumps into real-world complexity.

With a foundation in strategic public relations, communication, and marketing, I have become an expert in how to shape narratives, build trust, and mobilise people around shared goals. Those same skills underpin my work today helping leaders navigate complexity, uncertainty, and transformation.

In 1995, I was appointed CEO of the Australian Venture Capital Association (AVCAL). As one of the few woman leaders at that time, I led the industry to become a key player in the Australian finance industry. My focus was always on early stage innovation and I played a key role in bringing Australia's landmark Innovation Investment Fund (IIF) program into reality in 1997 delivering $724 million into 120 startups.

Keen to see stronger interaction between researchers, industry, and investors I worked with Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia (KCA) to bring about the Commercialisation Forum and Fair of Ideas in 2003.

I have also worked with university researchers to scale research breakthroughs into commercial products and was awarded the CSIRO Medal for Business Excellence in 2010.

And as a Director of Howard Partners I have helped shape national science and innovation policy.

Throughout this journey, however, one thing has stood out. Innovation doesn’t begin with strategy or funding: it begins with mindset. And this is why I coach.
